What Is Langkawi Island Hopping? Where Do You Go and What Can You Do?
Langkawi island hopping is a half-day trip by speedboat to nearby islands. You stop at Pulau Beras Basah for beach time, watch eagles from the boat and visit the freshwater lake on Pulau Dayang Bunting. Depending on your package, there’s also fishing, snorkelling equipment and an island BBQ lunch.
You go ashore at some stops and stay on board at others, then take the boat to the next spot. One thing worth clearing up: 3-in-1, 4-in-1 and 5-in-1 describe the experiences included, not how many islands you visit.
Pulau Beras Basah: Walk the Beach or Get in the Water
Walk along the beach, take a few photos or have a swim where the crew says it’s safe. Staying dry is fine too. You don’t have to join every activity.

Eagle Watching: Keep Your Phone Ready and Stay Seated
At the eagle-watching stop, you stay in the boat and watch the birds circle overhead or swoop across the water. This is eagle watching at sea, not a visit to the statue at Eagle Square.
Keep your phone handy, but don’t stand up suddenly to get a better shot. The birds come and go. Some may fly closer than others; there’s no fixed number or guaranteed close-up.
Pulau Dayang Bunting: There’s a Walk Before You Reach the Lake
The freshwater lake, tucked between forested hills, is the main reason to visit Pulau Dayang Bunting.
You won’t step off the boat straight onto the lakeside. There’s a path to follow and steps to climb up and down. If anyone in your group finds stairs difficult, ask about the walk before booking, especially when travelling with older relatives or young children.
Dayang Bunting entry is paid separately on site. Lake activities and equipment hire may cost extra too, so check the price before joining in.

You get the same stops as the 3-in-1, plus time to try fishing. Follow the crew’s instructions, lower your line and wait for a bite.
Catching something is part of the fun, but it isn’t guaranteed. This package doesn’t include preparing or cooking your catch.
Premium 5-in-1: Snorkelling, Fishing and Lunch
This covers snorkelling at Pulau Beras Basah, eagle watching, fishing, Pulau Dayang Bunting and an island BBQ lunch.
Snorkelling equipment and Chinese- and English-speaking guide service are included. So is preparation of the day’s catch, subject to what you catch and the arrangements on site.
Check the transport details as well. The package with more activities doesn’t automatically include hotel pickup.
What Time Do You Leave? What Should You Bring?
Be at Jeti Pelancongan Pekan Rabu for check-in at 9:10 AM. The boat is scheduled to leave at 9:30 AM, so that’s not the time to arrive.
- 3-in-1 and 4-in-1: Return around 1:30 PM. No lunch, but round-trip transfers within Kuah Town are included.
- Premium 5-in-1: Return around 2:30 PM. Lunch is included; hotel transfers aren’t.
Kuah Town pickup doesn’t mean pickup anywhere in Langkawi. Send the team your hotel name beforehand and check whether it’s covered. Weather, sea conditions and arrangements on the day can change the order of stops and your return time. Leave a gap before your next activity.
Pack sun protection, drinking water, a waterproof bag and some cash. Going swimming? Add swimwear, a towel and a change of clothes. Wear comfortable shoes with a good grip for getting on and off the boat and tackling the steps at Dayang Bunting.
